Ssebaana Kizito has become the ultimate winner of the ruling National Resistance Movement flag to contest for the Lord Mayoral seat in the coming 2021 general election.

Ssebaana, a nephew to former Kampala Mayor, the late John Ssebaana Kizito defeated Musician Daniel Kazibwe also-known-as Ragga Dee despite losing in four out of the five Divisions of Kampala Capital City. According to official figures declared by the party’s returning officers in each Division, Ssebaana has a total count of 37,191 against Kazibwe‘s 29,793 votes.

Ssebaana secured the win thanks to a landslide Victory in Kampala Central Division where he polled 25,955 votes against Kazibwe's 4,089 votes. This result gave Ssebaana a margin of 21,866 votes, surpassing the win that Kazibwe recorded in Nakawa, Lubaga, Kawempe and Makindye Divisions.

In Makindye Division, Kazibwe scored 9,634 votes beating his opponent Sssebaana who scored 1,914 votes. Kazibwe also won the poll in Kawempe Division with 4,153 against 3,427 votes. Kazibwe also won in Lubaga Division with 8,113 votes against Ssebaana’s 2,725 votes, but he narrowly won in Nakawa Division with 3,804 votes against 3,170 votes.

However, Kazibwe is still grateful for his achievement in the poll. In an interview with Uganda Radio Network-URN, Kazibwe said that he was ready and willing to work with the successful candidate to win the Lord Mayor's seat for the ruling party.

Ssebaana will now compete with candidates from other Opposition Political Parties come February 2021. These include the incumbent Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago under the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) party ticket, and musician Joseph Mayanja from the National Unity Party (NUP), among others.
